"J'utilise la peinture comme moyen de penser, une manière sensuelle et non-verbale de poser les termes d'un problème au sein d'un espace clos, celui du tableau. Une peinture peut être belle (tant mieux), politique (ce serait super), mais sa première mission est de s'émanciper à la fois de son auteur et du spectateur. Lorsqu'elle devient indépendante, la matière du tableau est un corps à part entière, la mienne est mate, ses couleurs acides, elle s'enfonce dans la profondeur de la toile ou bien la recouvre par touche plus larges et saillantes. Si j'ai travaillé en bonne intelligence avec mes couleurs et avec l'épais jeu de dénotation et de connotation qui travaille notre culture visuelle, le tableau est intéressant à voir, c'est l'essentiel."
"I use painting as a way of thinking, a sensual and non-verbal way of posing the terms of a problem within a closed space, that of the painting. A painting can be beautiful (so much the better), political (that would be great), but its first mission is to emancipate itself from both its author and the viewer. Mine is matte, its colors acid, it sinks into the depth of the canvas or covers it with larger, more prominent strokes. If I've worked intelligently with my colors and with the thick interplay of denotation and connotation that works in our visual culture, the painting is interesting to see, and that's the main thing."
