Exiles and poetic resistances.

Adrian Paci (born 1969 in Shkoder, Albania) lives and works in Milan, Italy.

In 1997, Adrian Paci left his native country, Albania, during a turbulent period of political uncertainty and instability. Since then, his work has been self-referential and constructed as a narrative of displacement and loss, often reflecting the trauma of separation and the nostalgia of the migrant. From the innocence of childhood to social initiation, to a mature voice with political resonance, Paci paints the landscape of an ethical subject at the moment of its emergence, of its transition.

His work is an anatomy of political desire: from the narrative of dispossession and exile, to the ritual of belonging and identification, through the mechanisms of empowerment and emancipation. His films, drawings and paintings often overlap imagination and fantasy with the cruelty of political reality and the brutality of everyday life.

Adrian Paci was part of the Albanian Pavilion group exhibition at the 1999 Venice Biennale, he also participated in the 2005 Venice Biennale International Exhibition and represented Albania at the 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale.

His works have been presented in numerous solo exhibitions internationally.
