ENTRÉE LIBRE

Arts and radio: meeting with Loraine Baud and Simon Nicaise, co-directors of DUUU radio, on the relationship between radio and contemporary creation.

DUUU is a radio station dedicated to contemporary creation, co-directed by Loraine Baud and Simon Nicaise. Founded in 2012, it was born from the desire to make situations of reflection and work heard.

Located at Folie N4 in the heart of the Parc de la Villette, DUUU has created a recording studio dedicated to artists and contemporary creation. This sound production tool is also a distribution space, which offers a programme of public events.

DUUU has a collection of programmes available for listening on its website.

Inventing what an art radio could be today, DUUU experiments with other modes of speech, and works to cross parallel voices and encourage meetings.

Since 2018, the radio station has been working on publishing and distributing sound objects by initiating the production of a vinyl collection.

Loraine Baud is co-director of *Duu radio since 2013, in charge of programming, development and administration. She is a member of C-E-A / Association française des commissaires d'exposition (2022), and holds degrees in Aesthetics and International Artistic Cooperation. From gallery management to curating, she develops various editorial projects, exhibitions and radio productions.

Simon Nicaise is co-founder of *Duu radio. Trained at the Beaux-Arts de Rouen from which he graduated in 2008, Simon Nicaise has developed a career marked by numerous solo and group exhibitions in Europe, and has been awarded several prizes (Jeune Création in 2009, Prix Sciences-Po for contemporary art in 2011). His work has been shown in numerous institutions and art centres (Mamco, Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Palais de Tokyo, Centre Pompidou, KCCC, Micro Onde, Frac Franche-Comté, Frac Haute-Normandie, La Box, Mains d'oeuvres, Musée Alfred Canel, HEAD...) and has been the subject of several solo exhibitions in France and abroad. Her commitment to associations led her to create Stork Galerie in Rouen (20118-2011) and the Brasserie Pain Liquide (since 2020).

In 2021, Loraine Baud and Simon Nicaise received the Pierre Giquel Prize for art criticism (written by an artist about another artist) with *Duu radio.
