Since the 1950s, certain artists have chosen to become idle. Rejecting the frenzy of production, they have explored the virtues of withdrawal, slowing down and inaction, creating art in a different way.
Following on from the international symposium Désœuvrer / Un-work organised in 2021 by the École Normale Supérieure, the École du Louvre and the Beaux-Arts de Paris, this book examines the forms and challenges of this unique artistic attitude.

Edited by Morgan Labar, Armance Léger and Killian Rauline.

When Claude Rutault (1941–2022), one of the leading figures of conceptual art, appropriated hopscotch, he had not yet invented definitions/methods. However, the theme of this children's game and its use in painting already reflected his penchant for artistic protocols. From August 1971 to October 1974, Claude Rutault drew or painted 519 hopscotch games, before returning to the theme in several exhibitions between 1994 and 2019.

With a preface by Éric de Chassey and contributions from Hervé Bacquet, Pascal Dusapin, Renaud Ego, Pierre Juhasz, Daniel Kuntz, Jacinto Lageira, Serge Lemoine, Bernard Moninot, Catherine Millet, Jean-Luc Nancy, and Baldine Saint-Girons, the book offers a wealth of colour illustrations.

Retracing his entire artistic career, Le Fil d'alerte offers a unique and richly illustrated immersion into the visual and intellectual universe of Bernard Moninot, professor of drawing at Beaux-Arts de Paris from 2005 to 2015.

An original creation of Beaux-Arts de Paris, this collection of Cahiers d'artistes draws on the talent of the school's artist-teachers. Each album is composed of large-format works to colour in and is introduced by an interview with an art critic. They allow readers to discover the pleasure of creation with the expertise and teaching methods unique to École des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Frédérique Loutz manipulates, blurs and distorts forms. She invites us into fantastical and phantasmagorical worlds that lend themselves to multiple interpretations.

Felicità 2025 is the catalog for the exhibition curated by Mathieu Kleyebe Abonnenc. It showcases the works of 24 emerging artists selected by the 2025 jury and also presents the work of 80 artists graduating in 2025, including those selected by the jury.
Published by Beaux-Arts de Paris éditions, this catalog captures, as it does every year, a pivotal moment: the moment when exceptional young creators are preparing to transform the world of contemporary art.

Sonia Steinsapir (1912-1980), born in Russia during the Tsarist era, lived in Crimea, Berlin, and Moscow before emigrating to Paris in 1936. She became a student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and set her sights on a career as an artist. A victim of anti-Semitism during the Occupation, she was deported to the camps at Mérignac and Poitiers, where she met internees known as Nomads, Manouches, Gypsies, Roma, and Travellers, and produced one of the rare graphic accounts of anti-Gypsy persecution in France during the Second World War.

This book is the first monograph devoted to the artist duo The Bells Angels, consisting of Julien Sirjacq and Simon Bernheim.

Photos, paintings, engravings, but also magazine design and graphic design for major institutions—the monograph presents all of their work, particularly powerful creations that are part of a post-punk musical and artistic culture.

Les Éditions des Beaux-Arts de Paris has published Les Caprices de la pensée, in which artist and former president of ADAGP Christian Jaccard reveals more than 50 years of artistic experimentation.

Born in 1956, Welsh artist James Rielly was head of studio at Beaux-Arts de Paris from 2005 to 2024. This comprehensive monograph, prefaced by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and introduced by a text by Anaël Pigeat, chronologically retraces his career as an artist and reveals the true work of a colorist with a subtle, ethereal chromatic palette.

The first book in a collection that celebrates the skills taught at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, Manuel de la Forge invites you to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of ancestral art. Designed as a practical and artistic guide, it offers a gradual introduction to the technique of forging, combining precision and creativity.
