The politics of images.

 

Georges Didi-Huberman is a philosopher and art historian who teaches at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris). He has taught at numerous universities abroad and has received numerous awards, including the Aby Warburg Prize, the Max Weber Prize, the Alexander von Humboldt Prize and, in 2015, the Theodor W. Adorno Prize.
He has published some sixty books on the history and theory of images, covering a wide historical range from Italian Renaissance painting to the most contemporary issues of image politics and the theoretical legacy of Aby Warburg and Walter Benjamin. Amongst the most recent: Désirer désobéir (Minuit, 2019), Pour commencer encore (Argol, 2019), Éparses (Minuit, 2020), Imaginer recommencer (Minuit, 2021) and Le Témoin jusqu'au bout (Minuit, 2022).

He has directed several important exhibitions, including L'Empreinte at the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris, 1997), Atlas at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid, 2010), Histoires de fantômes pour grandes personnes (with photographer Arno Gisinger) at Le Fresnoy, Rio de Janeiro, Beirut and Palais de Tokyo, Memory Burns at OCAT (Beijing, 2015) and Soulèvements at Jeu de Paume (Paris, 2016) and then in Barcelona, Buenos Aires, São Paulo and México (2017-2018).
