Equality of (artificial) intelligences.

Catherine Malabou is a specialist in contemporary French and German philosophy. She works on the importance of the concept of plasticity in neuroscience.

Today, intelligence allows its own simulation by synaptic chips. The Human Brain and Blue Brain programs intend to map the human brain in its entirety until one day producing an artificial consciousness capable of self-transformation by accessing its source code. Leaving aside all technophobic lament, the Metamorphoses of Intelligence essay engages in a dialogue between autonomy and automatism, thus opening up the promising path of experimental democracy to intelligence.

Catherine Malabou is Professor of Philosophy at the Research Centre for Modern European Philosophy at Kingston University (UK) and at the University of California, Irvine. Among her recent works: Before Tomorrow: Epigenesis and Rationality (Cambridge: Polity Press, 2016) and Morphing Intelligence, From IQ to IA, (New York, Columbia University Press, 2018). She is currently working on a new book on anarchism and philosophy.
