Pascal Rousseau, professor of art history at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, is the winner of the Prix du Livre d'art 2021 for his book Hypnosis, art and hypnotism from Mesmer to the present day, co-edited by the Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Nantes Museum of Art. This prize rewards a work in the field of art history and fine books, distinguished by a prestigious jury, which is aimed at a wide audience and must offer its readers an original approach to a theme, a work or a field, of which it renews the interest. An endowment of 3,000 euros accompanies the prize.

The 2021 jury was composed of Pascale Le Thorel, President of the Prize, President of the art and fine books publishers of the Syndicat national de l'édition, Philippe Costamagna, Vice-President, Director of the Palais Fesch-musée des Beaux-Arts d'Ajaccio, Albert Dichy, Literary Advisor, Literary Director of the IMEC, Institut de la Mémoire de l'édition contemporaine, Sébastien Allard, Director of the Paintings Department of the Louvre Museum, Éric de Chassey, Director General of the National Institute of Art History, Laurence des Cars, president of the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris and future president of the Musée du Louvre, Marie-Christine Labourdette, president of the Château de Fontainebleau, Jean de Loisy, director of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, Sophie Makariou, president of the Musée National des Arts Asiatiques - Musée Guimet, Philippe Morel, university professor, History and Civilizations, and Marielle Pic, archaeologist, general curator of heritage.
